And it was plenty of time for Travis Hunter, quarterback Sam Horn and the Georgia AAAAAA champions. Or so it seemed.
Looking at their own 25, Horn set up a fourth-and-14 before taking a sack and leaving with just 90 seconds left before removing the chains with their 39 runs. Horn, Missouri’s promise, found Hunter for 32 yards to keep their hopes alive. After a few plays, the Horn-to-Hunter connection pays off with a 28-yard scoring strike that seemed to win the game.
Wood and Graham-Kaposin got the ball back on their own 37 and Colin Hill worked 32 before the quarterback rolled to his left and the ball bounced off the goal post as he snatched the ball in front of Mars Corner Christian Harris.
